Mac app for TikTok slideshows: installed apps versus browser tools

As of 5 November 2026, most TikTok slideshow makers we checked are browser tools. A few have desktop apps, and Fyslide is a dedicated installed Mac app. An installed app adds local files, offline work and macOS features; a browser tool needs nothing installed.

Which Mac apps make TikTok slideshows?

Fewer than you might expect. The pages we read on 5 November 2026 describe most slideshow makers as web apps, and a few as installed programs. The table sorts them by how you run them.

KindExamples and what their pages sayWhere it runs
Browser toolReelFarm (opens in a new tab) (web app, mentions no desktop or mobile app), SlideReels (opens in a new tab), SlideStorm (opens in a new tab), Blotato (opens in a new tab), PostNitro (opens in a new tab)A browser tab on any computer
Browser tool, local filescarousel.bot (opens in a new tab) describes an editor that works "locally in your browser" and offers export onlyA browser tab; its page says it works locally in the browser
Browser tool plus extrasaiCarousels (opens in a new tab) is a web app with a Chrome extension and an Android appA browser tab
Design suite with desktop appsCanva (opens in a new tab) is a web design suite whose help-center footer offers desktop apps for Windows and MacBrowser or installed
Video editor with a slideshow makerCapCut (opens in a new tab) has an online editor and a downloadable app; its pricing (opens in a new tab) and slideshow pages do not name operating systems, and the slideshow output is a videoBrowser or installed
Dedicated installed appFyslide: macOS on Apple Silicon and IntelInstalled
TikTok itselfPhoto Mode is part of the mobile app (Creator Academy (opens in a new tab))The mobile app; the page we read does not say whether the website offers it

Two cautions. First, "downloadable" is not the same as "made for the Mac". The CapCut pages do not say which systems the app supports. Second, none of this says which tool is best. Prices and posting features are in the maker comparison.

Is it a Mac app or a website in a window?

A third kind sits between the two: a web app packed into an app window. It installs like a program, but the work still happens on the vendor's servers. The vendor pages above do not say which of their desktop apps work this way, so this guide does not sort them.

These signs point to a thin wrapper. None of them is proof.

  • It asks you to sign in before it shows your projects.
  • It stops working when you turn Wi-Fi off.
  • Your slideshows live in the vendor's account, not in a folder you can open.
  • It uses a standard browser file picker and nothing that looks like macOS.

What does an installed Mac app add?

  • Files in a place you control. Fyslide keeps its library, designs and slideshows on your computer and exports slides to a folder you choose.
  • Work without a connection. After activation the app works offline. Openverse search, Pinterest and cloud AI still need a network.
  • Access to macOS features. A web page cannot call macOS system frameworks directly. A program installed on your Mac can. In the app, cut-outs use Apple Vision on the Mac, and the Mac version also has the text-in-image check, AirDrop and HEIC import, which the Windows Beta lacks.
  • Your choice of AI. You connect Claude Code CLI, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Ollama, an Anthropic API key or an OpenAI API key, and the app charges nothing for AI (bring-your-own-AI explained).

What it costs you: an install, one computer per license, and Google Chrome on the machine, which the app uses to render and export slides. A browser tool does better when you work on several computers, want a team to share projects, or want posting built into the same tool. Several of the web tools above list TikTok publishing; this app does not post today.

What are the system requirements?

Check the download page for the current details. In short:

  1. A Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel (Apple menu, then About This Mac, shows which).
  2. Google Chrome installed.
  3. A license key. The download is free and asks for the key at start. There is no trial.
  4. An AI for the AI features. Ollama runs on your computer and needs enough memory for the model you pick. The only machine we timed was an Apple M5 Pro with 48 GB, where Ollama took 88.0 and 101.6 seconds for ten six-slide slideshows (speed page). Other Macs were not measured.

Which questions should you ask any Mac app?

  • Does the vendor page name macOS and say whether it runs on Apple Silicon, Intel or both?
  • Do projects open and edit with Wi-Fi off?
  • Can you find your files in a folder, and export PNG or JPG without a watermark?
  • Who pays for the AI, and can you choose the provider?
  • Does it post to TikTok today, or is that planned? Treat "coming soon" as not available.
  • Is the price a subscription or one payment? Lifetime versus subscription shows how to compare.

The app's price is a one-time payment tiered by license number, from $49 to $149; the live price is on the pricing page.

Does Fyslide run on Intel Macs?

Yes. The download page offers an Apple Silicon build and an Intel build.

Does the app work without internet?

After activation, yes. Cloud AI, Openverse search and Pinterest need a connection; Ollama and your own pictures do not.

Can a Mac app post my slideshow to TikTok?

Not this app today. Posting is marked Coming soon, included in your lifetime access as an update. You export the files and upload them yourself.
