How to make a TikTok slideshow on a PC or Mac, and what still needs your phone

You can write, design and export a TikTok slideshow entirely on a PC or Mac. As of November 2026, TikTok's own steps for a photo post describe the mobile app, so the last step happens on your phone or through a tool that posts for you. Three routes are compared below.

Can you make a TikTok slideshow on a PC?

Yes, up to the finished image files. A computer can handle the topic, the slide text, the layout, the export and the caption. What TikTok describes for the last step is the phone. As of November 2026, TikTok's Creator Academy (opens in a new tab) explains a photo post in the app: tap Add Post (+), then Photo, then Upload, select the photos and tap Next.

That article covers only the app flow. It does not say whether TikTok's website can create photo posts, so this guide makes no claim about it. Check TikTok's help center or the upload screen of your own account for the current options.

The rest of this page is about the gap: how finished slides get from your computer into a post.

What can a computer finish, and what does TikTok describe for the app?

JobOn the computerIn the TikTok app, as TikTok describes it
Slide text and captionYes, in any toolThe description field, up to 4,000 characters
Layout and exportYes: JPG or PNG filesNot needed
Text and stickersYes, inside your design toolAlso in the editor, with filters and crop
SoundNot part of an image exportOne sound per post; the Creator Academy points to the Commercial Music Library
CoverOnly if your tool offers itAn image cover option in the editor
Tags, location, link, privacyOnly through a tool that posts for youEditor options
PublishingOnly through a tool that uses TikTok's APITap post

The right-hand column comes from the Creator Academy article above and from TikTok's Help Center (opens in a new tab), which also says one sound per post.

Sound depends on the route you pick. As of 5 November 2026, Buffer's help center (opens in a new tab) says the TikTok music library is not available through the API. If a sound matters to you, plan to add it in the app.

Which three routes get the slides into TikTok?

All three start with finished slides on your computer.

Route 1: files to your phoneRoute 2: a separate posting toolRoute 3: a maker that also posts

Route 1: move the files to your phone

Use a cable, a shared cloud folder, or a device-to-device feature such as AirDrop between an Apple computer and an iPhone. Send the files as files or an album, not as screenshots, because some chat apps compress pictures. Then follow the in-app steps above and check the slide order before you post.

Route 2: use a separate posting tool

Schedulers post through TikTok's Content Posting API. As of 27 October 2026, TikTok's photo-post reference (opens in a new tab) lists two modes: a direct post, or a media upload where you finish in the TikTok editor after an inbox notification. As of 5 November 2026, Buffer says up to 10 of your own images per TikTok post, and Publer's help article (opens in a new tab) says up to 35 (it shows an update date of 11/02/2025). The scheduler comparison has the full table and TikTok's audit rule.

Route 3: use a maker that also posts

On the pages we read on 5 November 2026, ReelFarm (opens in a new tab), SlideStorm (opens in a new tab), SlideReels (opens in a new tab), Blotato (opens in a new tab) and PostNitro (opens in a new tab) (Creator+ plan) list TikTok publishing. The maker comparison shows what each costs. You trade a plan or credits, and a vendor that connects to your TikTok account, for a route that can skip the phone step.

Fyslide, a desktop app for macOS with a Windows Beta, feeds route 1. It exports PNG or JPG slides, the caption and a zip into a folder you choose, and you upload them yourself (export guide). Posting from the app is marked Coming soon, included in your lifetime access as an update.

How do you run route 1 step by step?

  1. Read every slide on the computer, at phone size if your tool can show it. Slideshow size covers crops and text margins.
  2. Export into one folder named for the post, and save the caption text beside the slides.
  3. Number the files (01, 02, 03) so they sort in slide order.
  4. Copy the folder to your phone.
  5. In TikTok, tap Add Post (+), then Photo, then Upload, and select the slides.
  6. Add the sound, cover and any tags, and paste the caption (caption guide).
  7. Check the first slide and the order in the preview, then post. Keep the original files.

Which route fits you?

  • You post a few times a week and want TikTok sounds: route 1. It keeps every editor option.
  • You prepare a week at once and can skip TikTok's sound library: route 2, ideally in a mode where the post waits in your inbox for a final check.
  • You want one subscription for design and posting: route 3.

You can mix them. Make a batch on the computer, send it through a scheduler's reminder mode, and add the sound on the phone.

What should you check before posting from a computer?

  • Files are JPG if a posting tool is involved. As of 4 August 2026, TikTok's media transfer guide (opens in a new tab) lists WebP and JPEG, not PNG.
  • The slide count is at or under the tool's stated cap.
  • All slides share one ratio, which is what the Creator Academy advises.
  • The caption is at most 4,000 characters, the limit in the Creator Academy article.
  • You decided where the sound comes from.
  • The cover shows the hook.
Can I post a TikTok photo slideshow from TikTok's website?

The Creator Academy article we read describes only the mobile app. This guide makes no claim about the website either way; check TikTok's help center or your own upload screen.

Is the file route the same on a Windows laptop and a Mac?

The export and the in-app steps are the same. The transfer differs: AirDrop works between Apple devices only, so on Windows use a cable or a shared cloud folder. Fyslide runs on both, with Windows as a Beta; see the Windows guide.
